FIREWORKS AND KITES IN LINCOLN CITY, OR

June 23, 2007, was a beautiful day in Lincoln City with the kite festival going on and the 10:00PM fireworks display at Chinook Winds Casino. Anita, Connie, Michael, sleeping Zoie, and I all watched it from our porch. Since we were so close it made for great pictures.
It was a fabulous time and a perfect day!

THINGS TO DO IN LINCOLN CITY, OREGON

Zoe,our great-grandaughter, is so fun! We are all having a blast eating out, going to movies, viewing popoises, sea lions, gray whales, and playing in the Fort at the Lake. Michael and I had a wonderful time, but got sunburned on the lake.

DISCOVERY OF SILVER AND BATS

Last week while exploring an old mine in SW Arizona, we discovered a vein of silver and some large brown bats that would fly directly at our faces and then turn away at the last second before crashing into us!!

TRIP TO THE REAL WILD WEST OF S.W. ARIZONA

Last week I took a few men on a retreat to Southeastern Arizona near the Mexican, New Mexico border. We were looking for an old mine that went one mile through a huge mountain to the old ghost town of Hilltop. We found the mine and hiked for about two hours through the inside of the mountain until we reached an impassable place where the ceiling of the mine had crashed. We never could get through. We did have large brown bats fly at us. We drove a 4 wheel double cab Dodge Ram where there were only rugged trails up steep mountains and canyons. The scenery was breath-taking and we saw two huge 400 pound black bear and many tame deer. We stayed at a rock house near Portal, Arizona, and saw so many amazing birds and animals in the unique Cave Creek Canyon. It was one of the most exciting exploration trips we ever made. I wish more men could have gone with us to share the thrill.
